Polish gas giant PGNiG is talking with American oil companies Chevron, Lane Energy and Marathon Oil about a possible cooperation on exploration and extraction from Poland's abundant oil shale deposits, Puls Biznesu writes.
PGNiG wants to share the licenses it owns and cooperate in the areas of the American firms' concessions, PGNiG deputy CEO Waldemar Wójcik said.
Poland's oil shale deposits estimated at 1.5-3 trillion cubic meters attract much interest from investors, mainly from the U.S., and the Polish Environment Ministry has issued 44 concessions for their exploration, with another 31 concession motions pending, the daily writes.
