Gourmet Zone
Three new restaurants, Embassy, Chaji and Beluga, opened under one roof and one name: Strefa Gourmet Domu Dochodowego. "This is a collision of three cultures and their respective tastes, scents and designs," said Magda Gessler, a famous restaurateur who also owns this place. "I wanted to create a thoroughly European restaurant, perhaps even cosmopolitan in its diversity." The three places form a whole through a Lounge zone in which guests can take a seat in soft couches and listen to chillout music.
Embassy, also called the Embassy of Good Taste, has the elegance of a genuine bistro where flavors from across the continent meet. Here, you can eat croissants and brioches. "We also have steak tartar and coq au vin," Gessler said. In the cake department, Embassy serves Warsaw's only Sacher cake and Hungarian Dobos Torta. You can buy everything for take-away.
Chaji stands for French chic and southern temperament in one. It serves everything that is available at Embassy. Throughout the day, it explores various egg variations. Chaji is full of Mediterranean flavors, possibly because Gessler lived in Spain for nearly 20 years.
Beluga offers an unusual encounter between two cultures, Russian and Japanese. Here you sample the nations' different methods of preparing fish. "They are unrivaled role models," Gessler said. Seated behind an elegant, long black counter, diners can watch cooks prepare oysters and smoked Alaskan salmon. "We serve Russian herring, sturgeon, ukhta and Japanese miso soup," Gessler listed. The menu also features crab, oysters, various kinds of caviar and smoked fish. Beluga's interior decor is a unique combination of Zen simplicity with rich floral ornamentation.
