Tomek Bagiński's film Cathedral premiered Oct. 16 at Warsaw's Cinema City, Galeria Mokotów. The script based on Jacek Dukaj's book won an award in the category of Best Animated Short at Siggraph, the world's largest computer graphics and special effects fair in San Antonio. The film has also been awarded the Animago Award and the artFutura 2002.

Cathedral was produced by the Platige Image company, which, together with Intel, supports young film directors who wish to carry out individual projects.

Heaven, by Jarosław Marszewski, premiered Oct. 18. The film has been acknowledged at both domestic and foreign festivals, winning 20 different awards. The story is set in the picturesque landscapes on the Polish, Czech, and German border. Accompanied by the beautiful music of Jerzy Mazzoll, the film won the journalists' award at the Koszalin festival. It scored an even greater success in Portugal where it won the Grand Prix at the 18th Festroia International Film Festival.
