Legion of Honor
At a ceremony May 29, French Ambassador to Poland Pierre Ménat decorated Jan Truszczyński with the order of the Legion of Honor for his contribution to the European Union and the development of French-Polish relations. A former undersecretary of state in the President's Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Truszczyński represented the Polish government during EU membership negotiations.
Established by Napoléon Bonaparte in 1802, the Legion of Honor is the highest order in France and is given to outstanding and distinguished individuals, both military and civilian.
