Opposition party PiS appealed to President Lech Kaczynski, the twin-brother of PiS leader Jarosław Kaczynski, to run for re-election in presidential election this year.

Such resolution was passed during party's convention over the weekend.

Presidential official Aleksander Szczygło assessed PiS resolution as "important" for the president but "not binding" and added that president's decision regarding running for re-election should be announced in spring.
