On-Off is the name of a two-level nightspot in the heart of the city, which is celebrating its first anniversary throughout September. Guests are in for an anniversary menu, special cocktails at promotional prices (three different cocktails every day) and special prices on alcohol during parties.

"'On' is the restaurant section upstairs, which leaves customers in a good mood for the rest of the day," says the venue's manager. "The 'Off' section downstairs is more like a club. We become predominantly a club on weekends, while weekdays are the restaurant days." The club is designed for those who enjoy styles such as electro, drum'n'bass, tech-house, progressive and true school. The restaurant features a menu of international cuisine with an emphasis on the Mediterranean. "Our flagship dishes include spaghetti with seafood, fresh chili and olive oil," the manager said. Adding that "we also have Sashimi and rabbit, a rarity in Warsaw restaurants." The place serves breakfast daily from 10 a.m. until noon and lunch from noon until 4 p.m. "Every day of the week features a different lunch menu. You always get soup, a main course and a beverage, all for zl.19."

The menu features a generous selection of alcohol, including On-Off's special drinks, such as the extremely powerful Zombie Remix (zl.24) and the Long Island Ice Tea Golden Remix. Patrons relish the refreshing Jack Daniel's Limonade and can also get champagne at very reasonable prices.

"We certainly stand out from other clubs with our excellent PA system," said Kazimierski. "Three clubs at most have this kind of equipment in Poland and only one of them is in Warsaw," he continued. This partially explains why each Friday and Saturday night, the club's dance floor is packed. Frequently, clubgoers include celebrities and even politicians, who can count on anonymity. "We have had the pleasure of hosting music celebrities in numbers unheard of in other clubs," the manager added.

A number of well-known DJs from Poland and abroad have spun at On-Off, and the venue also presents live acts and diverse performances. Part of On-Off's appeal is its unusual decor, which has stirred discussions ever since its opening. It is modeled on the U.S. West Coast style of the 1960s, an evident nod to op-art.

On-Off, 22 Żurawia St., tel. 0-22 438-92-99. Private parties are possible for up to 100 guests upstairs and 350 downstairs.
