"Our restaurant belongs in the business category. Business lunches and dinners are the most popular things we do," says Paweł Jachowski, manager of 99 Restaurant. The menu features a diverse array of international cuisine. Every weekend during the summer vacation season, the restaurant holds a Polish Cuisine Festival geared towards foreign tourists and locals as well. The dishes are variations of local foods, influenced by the restaurant's specialties.

99 is located near Warsaw's best hotels. Every day the menu offers two or three lunches that come with soup, salad and a dessert. For a starter the chef recommends tuna, salmon, shrimp or mixed sashimi or tenderloin beef carpaccio with duck, parmesan, crushed pepper and truffle dressing. The most remarkable soups on the menu are the creamy bourride with salmon and chives and the spicy chicken broth with udon noodles and coriander. The restaurant's specialty is tenderloin steak with fried potatoes served with sweet peas in a red and orange Peruvian anti-cucho sauce. Italian cuisine is also available, and includes dishes like conchiglie with seafood, tomatoes and basil, as well as spaghetti, penne or fettuccine with classic sauces such as carbonara, bolognese and arrabiata. A seafood specialty worth tasting is the Barcelona grilled seafood (shrimp, calamari, octopus and mussels) served with zucchini and jasmine rice. The chef also particularly recommends the halibut filet served with potatoes, artichokes, and creme fraiche. Your lunch or dinner will be perfectly crowned with a dark and white chocolate tiramisu or caramelized strawberries. 99 started the trend of open kitchens in Warsaw restaurants. The idea originated in Western Europe and America. Looking into the kitchen, diners can see a wood oven and a rotating spit. "In our kitchen we use a lot of spices which we prepare for particular dishes," says the chef. The menu is completed with a list of 80 wines from countries including South Africa, France, Chile and Argentina.

99 is closely connected with America not only because of its owners. "About 60 percent of our guests come from English-speaking countries," says Jachowski. The restaurant's interiors, as well, were designed by San Francisco architect Cass Calder Smith.

Every day, 99's patrons can take advantage of special offers. With a voucher from Gazeta Wyborcza or the restaurant's website, guests can enjoy a large discount or a free bottle of wine.

99 Restaurant, 23 Jana Pawła II Ave., open from 8 a.m. until the last guest leaves.
