19 Foksal St. houses a restaurant and nightclub named after the address. A lot has changed here recently, including the chef, the menu and the lunch offer, which now includes business lunches with a tab system. Foksal Street, one of the best known streets in Warsaw, has been a favorite spot for the city's high society for almost two centuries. Foksal 19 is situated in a Neo-gothic tenement house which dates from the 19th century and which has housed legendary nightspots.

Foksal 19 opened a few years ago. The new chef, Krzysztof Wojtal, worked at the Intercontinental Hotel until recently. He has expanded the lunch menu, which now features different dishes every day. For example, you can get spicy vegetable soup with grated cheese (zl.12), turkey fillet served on tagliatelle pasta with vegetables and capsicum sauce (zl.26) and finish off with pineapple tart (zl.12). Lunch is served from Monday to Friday, noon-4 p.m. "The business lunch offer, which is an arrangement featuring cash-free dining, is available to corporate and individual customers," said Dyakowska. "They get a bonus 10-percent discount on the invoice, which is made out on the last day of the month."

The new menu features a number of delicacies. For starters, try tuna terrine with foie gras, cajun pepper and green salad (zl.24), or crayfish pie with brandy vinaigrette (zl.19). The salads served at Foksal 19 include Haloumi cheese, mango and fresh figs (zl.22) and the unusual Foksal 19 salad for two (zl.30). Be sure not to miss the mushroom soup with truffle oil, julienne vegetables and cognac (zl.15). Interesting pasta and rice offers include lemon risotto with scallops and creamy sauce (zl.24) and Mare e Monti tagliatelle with seafood and boletes (zl.25).

Other main courses include blue marlin steak with couscous, lotus petals and ginger sauce (zl.38) and oak-smoke flavored venison with spices, sauce and żubrówka vodka (zl.67). For dessert, you should try the meringue with strawberries and Advocaat sauce (zl.13) or the hot raspberries with ice-cream and pistachio nuts (zl.18).

Foksal 19, 19 Foksal St., open Mon.-Thu. noon-1 a.m., Fri. noon-3 a.m., Sat. 5 p.m.-3 a.m.; nightclub open Fri.-Sat. 11 p.m.-5 a.m.; tel. 0-22 829-29-55
