“Poland will welcome you with open arms”: Donald Tusk was convincing potential Indian investors in Bangalore on Sept. 6
Donald Tusk is leading a large official-cum-trade delegation on his three-day state visit to India, as the first non-communist Polish prime minister, aiming to encourage Indian trade and investment in Poland.
The first stop of the delegation’s trip was at the southern city of Bangalore, India’s tech hub, yesterday where PM Tusk addressed the Polish-Indian Investment Forum organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), showcasing investment opportunities in his country to prospective investors.
During the Forum the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency PAIiZ together with CII also conducted an interactive business session for representatives of top Indian companies to encourage trade and investment in Poland.
Ever since Poland joined the European Union in 2004, it received considerable attention from the Indian business community, as evident from the trade increasing five-fold to $1 billion in 2009 from $200 million in 2004 between the two countries.
Late Monday PM Tusk left for New Delhi for his official engagements with the Indian government.
Today he will meet with President Pratibha Patil, vice president and chairman of the upper house of parliament Ansari Mohammad Hamid, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna to discuss bilateral cooperation in economy, culture, education and defense.
