Helping Poor Children
An annual function to raise funds for the Entraide Mutual Help Foundation was held June 19 at the Warsaw residence of the French ambassador to Poland, Pierre Ménat. The event, at which business people from French-speaking countries raised more than zl.140,000, was held under the auspices of the ambassador's wife, Eliane Ménat.
The foundation was set up in 1995 and has the status of a public benefit organization. Its objectives are to provide material and financial assistance to Polish organizations that support people, especially children, in need. The foundation has about 30 French-speaking volunteers.
During a similar function last year, the foundation raised zl.124,000. Funds raised this year will go towards renovating an orphanage in Ełk in Mazuria and to adapt and equip a home in Milanówek for blind and severely disabled youth.
Welcoming his guests, Ambassador Ménat said, "My wife and I are pleased to have you here with us today. I would like to stress the special dedication of our volunteers supported by business communities."
