Surprising Moves in Public Television’s Supervisory Board

Public television TVP supervisory board restored TVP's management board head Romuald Orzel and his deputy Przemyslaw Tejkowski, both seen as associated with the opposition party PiS, to their functions, thus ending the six-month period of their suspension.

Such developments were likely possible thanks to a surprising vote of the head of the supervisory board Grzegorz Borowiec, affiliated with the ruling party PO, the daily Rzeczpospolita writes citing unofficial sources.

Left wing party SLD, whose representatives now find themselves forced to share their power in TVP with PiS, consider the move a revenge of the ruling party PO for SLD's unwillingness to cooperate with PO on the selection of TVP new supervisory board.

KRRiT is meeting on Tuesday and will make yet another attempt to appoint the supervisory board.
