LETTER TO THE EDITOR
As a Canadian citizen I wanted to express to the Polish people my sincere apologies for the recent taser death of Polish citizen Robert Dziekański at our airport here in Vancouver.
This act by our national police was completely over the top and unacceptable. Rest assured that they will be held accountable. This poor man needed our help and guidance when he arrived here and we didn't provide this for him. During his last moments he was treated like a criminal when in fact he was just confused and frustrated.
To his mother I say "I wish I could hug you and make it alright"…..but I can't. All I can do is say "I'm sorry".
