Mobile security systems based on digital certificates are among the most promising applications that have been developed as part of the Polish Platform on Mobile Communications and Wireless Technology. Such systems are designed by Trusted Information Consulting (TICONS), a firm based in Warsaw.

"Registered certificates and secure electronic signatures used in mobile applications have created a new standard," says TICONS CEO Wiesław Paluszyński. "They facilitate the implementation of m-banking, m-commerce and m-service systems, while secure electronic signatures make it possible to authenticate transactions and contracts."

The company's mobile security systems offer constant access to various types of services. For example, during a nighttime emergency on the road, a client can call for help, request a tow to the nearest garage and simultaneously pay for all these services. Banks, financiers, retailers and various other companies benefit by being able to sell their services on a 24/7 basis.

TICONS sets up certification centers within firms and creates systems to monitor certificate circulation. It also expands and improves the security of existing certification and registration centers.

TICONS designs IT and building security systems for businesses. The first stage is to test existing security measures in a building by trying to break into it, and the company's staff also attempt to hack into the firm's IT networks and examine internal security devices. The next phase is to define the area that needs to be secured against theft attempts involving hardware, software or documents, followed by the development of a system to prevent such theft. This involves designing a system to protect facilities, materials and documents by limiting and controlling physical access and preventing any other form of unauthorized penetration.

TICONS offers IT security measures such as anti-virus protection, the Intrusion Detection System (IDS), Firewall systems and secure links such as VPN and SSL.
