Warsaw's Novotel Hotel hosted the fourth Annas for Anna Dymna fundraiser Dec. 11. This annual event to help people with learning disabilities is named after stage and screen actress Anna Dymna. Dymna is the founder and chair of the Mimo Wszystko (Against the Odds) Foundation.

The proceeds from this year's event are going to help build a treatment center in Radowice near Cracow in southern Poland. The Dolina Słońca (Sun Valley) center will offer help for people with learning disabilities. The estimated zl.20-million bill was reduced by zl.79,000 through the efforts of thespian auctioneer Tomasz Stockinger.

Among the items up for grabs was a Landau purse donated by actress Anna Samusionek, a necklace from jeweler Józef Czerniejewski, two paintings by Andrzej Roszczak and Władysław Kozłowski donated by the Wojciech Fibak gallery, a painting by Andrzej Foggt and a Pirelli calendar. At zl.11,000, the Foggt painting drew the highest bid.

Vocalists Maria Sadowska and Tatiana Okupnik performed and Oktawia Kawęcka fronted the Akwarium Big Band, while actor Damian Aleksander and singer Irena Santor were special guests. Santor is a longtime supporter of Dymna's charitable work.
