Student Carnival Ball

The Audience Hall of the Warsaw University of Technology will be transformed into a ballroom to stage a unique event Jan. 27. Students and officials from Warsaw's major universities will gather at the Karnavauli Student Carnival Ball. The evening will begin with a traditional polonaise.

The idea of organizing the ball emerged three years ago. A student organization, the Board of European Students of Technology, and the university's student council decided to hold an annual event that was to unite Warsaw's university students just like the Juwenalia student festival does in the spring. In this case, however, the students were to celebrate the new year in an unusual, ceremonial setting.

This year the organizers have invited Warsaw University, the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, the Medical University of Warsaw, the University of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński in Warsaw and the Main School of the Fire Service to take part in staging the ball.

A beautifully festooned gallery, the illuminated hall and an orchestra playing until daylight will make the evening special. The many attractions planned for the ball include a dance performance and a fencing demonstration. The Warsaw Voice is the event's media sponsor.
