Outstanding business, political, cultural and media achievements have been recognized annually by the Confederation of Polish Employers since 2002. The confederation awards its Vector and Super Vector prizes at the annual Employers' Ball. This year's ball will be held at the Warsaw Hilton Jan. 12 at 8 p.m.
Vectors are awarded to individuals from various sectors of the economy for exceptional and exemplary entrepreneurship or for innovations likely to foster Poland's economic and social development. They are also awarded for activities deemed particularly beneficial to the Polish economy or which promote business generally.
The Super Vector recognizes outstanding and farsighted achievements in aid of the common good. Recipients have to be especially creative, hard working, open minded and public spirited.
Former President Lech Wałęsa was awarded the Super Vector last year for having laid the groundwork for private enterprise in Poland. Vectors went to, among others, actress Krystyna Janda, Wrocław mayor Rafał Dutkiewicz, Carrefour Polska chairman Alain Souillard, PKN Orlen chairman Igor Chalupec, and Waldemar Dunajewski, chairman of the Heat and Power Plant Employers' Association.
