Speaker's Corner for Warsaw

A Warsaw version of London's Speaker's Corner officially opened in front of the Palace of Culture and Science in December. This is the first place in Warsaw where one can demonstrate and speak one's mind publicly without needing to register first.

The city authorities have provided a rostrum made of stone and an information board to encourage Warsaw residents to speak out. However, speakers have to comply with all Polish legal regulations, including those that prohibit them from insulting the head of state or spreading fascist propaganda. Warsaw's Speaker's Corner will operate on a trial basis for 12 months to see if Varsovians really need it.
