Art Deco Elegance

An elegant establishment has returned to Warsaw after 60 years with the opening of the Café Fogg on Nieca³a Street.

The Art Deco-style café was opened by Micha³ Fogg, the great grandson of Mieczys³aw Fogg (1901-1990), who was a popular Polish singer before and after World War II. The café is located on the ground floor of the apartment building called Rezydencja Opera, built with a flair reminiscent of a grand hotel. There was a café on Nieca³a Street before the war where Micha³'s great grandfather performed.

"I have been thinking for years of bringing back Café Fogg and finally I did it. I think that thanks to it my great grandfather's legend will be kept alive," said Micha³ Fogg.

The new Café Fogg has old posters promoting Mieczys³aw Fogg's concerts, his records and other mementos. There are also old black and white photographs of pre-war Nieca³a Street.

Micha³ Fogg does not remember the days of the original Café Fogg but knows its history from family recollections. Before the war Café Fogg promoted itself as "the most elegant place in town." However, it was only open for two years.

Micha³ Fogg says live music will be played in the new café. He also plans to put his great grandfather's piano there. Café Fogg, 7 Nieca³a St.
