Budget airline Iceland Express is preparing to launch a new flight from Warsaw to Reykjavik in the summer. This will be the first direct air connection between Poland and Iceland.

The airline has been on the market for five years offering flights between Iceland and various European countries. In its first year, Iceland Express launched its first two routes in Europe, and in its 2008 summer flight schedule the airline lists Warsaw as its 15th destination in Europe.

"We are glad that Warsaw has joined our range of direct flights," said the airline's CEO Matthias Imsland. "Polish tourists will be able to travel to Iceland with ease to learn about our country's interesting and unique culture. Also, we hope that our services will be convenient for the many Poles living and working in Iceland, and will allow them to keep in touch with their families and friends in Poland. Moreover, I am convinced that Icelanders will seize the opportunity to fly to Warsaw, as interest in traveling to Eastern Europe has grown substantially in Iceland in recent years."
