Thirty police mug shots found in a flooded police warehouse in a suburb of Sydney in Australia are on show at the Yours Gallery at 33 Krakowskie Przedmie¶cie St. until March 16.

Several tons of negatives were recovered from flooded police warehouses at the end of the 1990s. Peter Doyle, a crime writer, musician and curator of the Justice and Police Museum in Sydney was responsible for tidying up the recovered collection, comprising 300 photographs.

The police pictures are valuable from an artistic point of view. Although uncomplicated and unpretentious, they make quite an impression. The photographs recovered from the flood depict thieves, fraudsters, prostitutes, murderers, drug traffickers, pimps, fences and gamblers. The photographs were taken between 1912 and 1948 in Sydney.
