Many consider her first lady of Polish jazz. Ewa Bem will perform Feb. 29 at the Kongresowa Hall in Warsaw, promoting her new album, Kakadu. Referring to the style of the 1970s, it features smooth jazz pieces by Joachim Mencel, a composer and arranger.

Kakadu is a debut for Bem as a lyrics writer. The album includes 13 songs that Bem says are linked by a common theme: a protest against commercialism and mediocrity.

Feb. 29, Kongresowa Hall, Palace of Culture and Science, 1 Defilad Sq., 7:30 p.m.
