The education ministry is working on a regulation to enable private institutions of higher education to apply for subsidies to cover some of the tuition fees of full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students; the regulation will be drafted within the next three weeks, said Barbara Kudrycka, the minister of science and higher education, at a news conference Feb. 6.

Private colleges are entitled to such subsidies under article 94 of the Higher Education Act, Kudrycka said. The regulation will stipulate the application criteria.

The subsidies will be available to colleges that provide high standards of education and specialize in areas strategically important to the Polish economy, Kudrycka said.
