Marcin Herra has been appointed head of PL 2012, the company that will coordinate all Poland's preparations for the Euro 2012 European soccer championships, which the country is co-hosting with Ukraine.

"This project can't help but succeed," were some of the first words Herra said about the plans of PL 2012. "If we work hard over the next four and a half years, Poland and Ukraine will organize very good championships. Euro 2012 will be a very successful event, but we must remember that every spectacular success is preceded by lots of effort, which is not so spectacular. It's just like in sports, where every goal you score in a match comes from thousands of hours you have spent in training. The good thing about Polish people is that we can get our act together in hard times, and I am confident this is how it's going to be this time. However, this cannot be a short-lived spurt as the energy has to last for four and a half years. The role I see for myself as coordinator of PL 2012 is to build appropriate relationships and work with everybody involved in the challenge that is Poland's preparation for Euro 2012."
