A letter of intent was signed Feb. 26 to build a rail link between the new airport planned for Modlin, 40 km northwest of Warsaw, and Modlin train station, and possibly another to Frederic Chopin Airport in Warsaw's Okęcie district. "Travelers will be able to get to Warsaw city center in 20-25 minutes once the rail infrastructure has been upgraded. We're even thinking of opening a direct connection with Okęcie," said Mazovia Province Marshal Adam Struzik.

Mazovia province assembly is underwriting the project and has already set aside zl.60 million. The new airport together with rail links is to be up and running by 2010. The letter of intent was signed by officials from the Mazovia province assembly, the Military Property Agency, Polish State Railways (PKP), the PLK rail company, Polish Airports State Enterprise (PPL) and MPL Warszawa-Modlin, the company that is to build the airport.
