The Polish-Spanish Chamber of Commerce organized a breakfast with Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Waldemar Pawlak Feb. 20. Topics discussed at the meeting included prospects for business and trade between Poland and Spain. Pawlak said that Spain was an important business partner for Poland, with bilateral trade worth more than 5 billion euros.

The participants of the meeting discussed ways to improve conditions for foreign investors to do business in Poland and possible legislative changes to facilitate their operations on the Polish market. Other topics included private-public partnerships and standards that should be worked out in this area. Meeting participants emphasized the importance of policies to support innovation, improve the competitiveness of Poland, promote the Polish economy abroad, and increase foreign investment here.

Participants also discussed the involvement of Polish companies in the Water and Sustainable Development Expo 2008 exhibition in Saragossa and the role of the chamber and its members in preparing an agenda to promote the Polish economy at this exhibition.

The Polish-Spanish Chamber of Commerce was established in 2000 and has 100 members. Its main goal is to boost cooperation between Polish and Spanish companies.
