Taste of Easter
March 12, 2008
Article's tools:

The Mazovian Culture and Art Center is holding its Easter Fair on Warsaw's Rynek Mariensztacki Square March 15. Pisanki, traditional Polish Easter eggs painted with folk motifs will be available, as will Easter palms-seasonal dried flower compositions-and regional cuisine.

The Easter Fair celebrates Mazovian arts and crafts as well as regional Easter rituals and customs. Traditional Easter dishes, including all sorts of breads, sausages, cold cuts, honey, lard, cakes and pies will loom large. You can try before you buy too. And don't even think about leaving before the table decked with regional Easter delicacies has been brought out. These recipes have been handed down from generation to generation. Folk artists from other provinces, and even from as far afield as Lithuania and Belarus, will also be making an appearance.

The youngest visitors can take part in regional education workshops where experienced folk artists will teach them how to paint Easter eggs, and make palms and Easter roosters.

  • 10 a.m.-5 p.m.: Fair-folk art, Easter eggs, palms and regional Easter dishes;
  • 11 a.m.-1 p.m.: Children's activities;
  • noon-3 p.m.: Children's regional education workshops;
  • noon-3 p.m.: Mazovian spring traditions;
