Żywiec Enjoys Successful Year

Grupa Żywiec SA, the leading Polish beer producer, sold 11.8 million hectoliters of beer last year, 7.2 percent more than in 2006.

The group reported consolidated net sales of zl.3.51 billion in 2007, an 11-percent increase compared with 2006, and consolidated net profits of zl.419 million, a 27-percent increase.

Chris Barrow, president of Grupa Żywiec, said the past year was a successful one for the company, and not only in financial terms. The group strengthened its position as leader of the premium beer segment, the most profitable and prestigious part of the market, selling over 3 million hectoliters. The Heineken brand, the clear leader in terms of sales value in the international premium beer segment, is selling increasingly well in Poland.

Grupa Żywiec exports went up 52 percent in 2007. An increase was reported both in exports to the firm's longstanding leading markets and to new markets. At present, Grupa Żywiec beers have regular customers in more than 20 countries. Future priorities include steady efforts to develop the Żywiec brand and to enhance its image as the "icon" of Polish beer.
