Al Gore, the former U.S. vice-president who won last year's Nobel Peace Prize, received the Super Wektor 2007 award March 12 in Warsaw. The Confederation of Polish Employers (KPP) gave Gore the award for "awakening the ecological conscience of the world."

KPP president Andrzej Malinowski, who handed the award to Gore, praised his passion and dedication in spreading the word about the dangers of climate change.

The Super Wektor award goes to people who contribute to the common good through their work and creative thinking, who can rise above divisions, are open to other people's views and whose behavior sets an example to others.

Previous winners of the award include Prime Minister Donald Tusk, former central bank chief Leszek Balcerowicz, and ex-presidents Lech Wałęsa and Aleksander Kwaśniewski.
