Disco Polo Returns Live

"Disco polo" is a Polish variety of dance music that emerged in the late 1980s. Although music connoisseurs panned it as plain, populist kitsch, its exponents were often invited to major entertainment events.

The catchy tunes of disco polo songs were even used during parliamentary election campaigns. The popularity of the genre dwindled some 10 years ago, yet occasional concerts still attract large audiences. Those who want a taste of disco polo hits have a chance April 9, when the Kongresowa Hall in Warsaw hosts a concert featuring Boys, Top One, Akcent, Skaner, Marcin Siegieńczuk and Etna.

April 9, 7 p.m., Kongresowa Hall, Palace of Culture and Science, 1 Defilad Sq.
