Pure Folk to Modern Ethnic
April 23, 2008
Article's tools:

Warsaw has a string of cultural attractions lined up for the long May weekend, May 1-4. One may especially appeal to folk and ethnic music fans: Etno Cross, an international festival of ethnic music. The event was jointly organized by the Percussive Arts Society and nongovernmental organization Nowy ¦wiat Association.

The idea of the festival is to juxtapose pure, local folk traditions with modern music based on folk sounds. Ethno groups will perform alongside folk ensembles. The lineup includes artists from Poland, such as Drums Nrg, Bubliczki, the Globetrotters, and from abroad, such as Atmasfera and Asavari. Other artists scheduled to play are Duan, Samba Sim, Apolonia Nowak, Moryto Duo, Samba Axe Bahia Show and Celtic Triangle.

A detailed program is available at www.etnocross.com

Etno Cross Festival, May 1-4, Trakt Królewski: Nowy ¦wiat Street, Krakowskie Przedmie¶cie Street, Mariensztat Market Square, Fine Arts Academy courtyard, Chopin Academy of Music Concert Hall.
