Generali Goes for Direct Insurance Sales

Italian insurer Generali Group is launching direct distribution of its insurance products via telephone and the internet in Poland. Direct sales will complement the group's traditional distribution channels on the Polish insurance market.

"The direct market for financial services is expanding in Poland thanks to the growing popularity of online banking services and the considerable financial resources that banks-and recently also insurers-have been spending to promote their products distributed via telephone and the internet," said Andrzej Jarczyk, chairman of the Generali Group in Poland. "We want to take advantage of this expansion and reach new groups of clients that we wouldn't be able to enlist without direct sales."

Generali hopes to sell thousands of new insurance policies in the first year after the launch of direct sales. The company hopes to generate more than zl.10 million in gross written premiums through direct sales.
