British-born guitar guru John McLaughlin is about to descend on Warsaw to perform at the city's Kongresowa Hall May 19.

One of the most acclaimed guitarists in the history of jazz music, McLaughlin rose to worldwide fame thanks to the Mahavishnu Orchestra, a band that became the epitome of "fusion music" in the 1970s. McLaughlin's stature was confirmed by albums that he recorded together with another master of jazz, Miles Davis. After experiments with Hindu music, McLaughlin recorded one of the most well known guitar albums of the 20th century, Friday Night in San Francisco. McLaughlin recorded the album during a joint concert with two other great guitarists, Paco de Lucia and Al Di Meola.

While in Warsaw, McLaughlin will perform together with musicians from the Electric 4th Dimension Band. Together they will deliver a dose of his trademark jazz rock arrangements.

The McLaughlin concert, billed as a "return to musical roots," will be a key event of this year's Jazz Era festival in Warsaw.
