The Orange Warsaw Open International Tennis Tournament, the largest tennis event in Poland, will be held June 9-15 at the tennis courts of the Warszawianka sports club. The event, with prize money of 404,000 euros, is part of the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) International Series.

The Orange Warsaw Open has been moved to Warsaw from Sopot on the Baltic coast as a continuation of the famous Orange Prokom Open tournament. The event evolved from a low-key WTA (Women's Tennis Association) challenger held for the first time at the Sopot Tennis Club in 1992. Over its first decade, the tournament developed into a major sports event in Poland, first as a WTA Tour and for seven years, it has been Poland's first regular event of the men's ATP series.

The contestants in Warsaw will include Nikolai Davydenko, the current number four in the ATP standings, last year's Orange Prokom Open winner Tommy Robredo (number 17), Juan Monaco (16), Igor Andreyev (26), and Guillermo Canas (31).

Warsaw audiences will also get to see everybody's favorite, Gael Monfils (53), the winner of the 2005 tournament, who turns tennis into a real show when he plays. The tournament will also feature the best Polish tennis players.

This year's 17th Orange Warsaw Open is the oldest tennis tournament in Poland and to this day it is the only ATP event in Poland. It is organized by PTK Centertel, the operator of the Orange cell phone network, in association with Prokom Investments and the authorities of Warsaw.

Tickets to the Orange Warsaw Open are available online at www.orangewarsawopen.pl/kup_bilet, www.ticketonline.pl and www.bilet.wp.pl as well as at Orange stores in Warsaw and ticket offices of the Warszawianka sports club (2 Merliniego St.) during the event.
