Piotr Borys, deputy chairman of Lower Silesia province, talks to Barbara Deręgowska about the region's attractions.

The Kłodzka region of Lower Silesia is famous not only for its beautiful scenery and cultural riches. What tourist attractions and other unique features does it have?
The many natural places of interest in the Kłodzka region include the Jaskinia NiedĽwiedzia (Bear's Cave) in Kletno, Wodospad Wilczki (Wilczki Waterfall) in Międzygórze, Góry Stołowe National Park with the Błędne Skały and the Szczeliniec Wielki peak. Furthermore, we have museums that are the only ones of their kind in Poland that focus on unusual subjects, such as the Museum of Papermaking in Duszniki Zdrój, the Museum of Timber Building in Pstr±żna, the Museum of Phillumeny in Bystrzyca Kłodzka, and the Frog Museum in Kudowa Zdrój. Wambierzyce, known as the "Silesian Jerusalem," and Bardo ¦l±skie are increasingly important as places of worship.

There are also attractions for those looking for treasure and exploring the mysterious vaults and dungeons of the Kłodzka Fortress and the Fortress in Srebrna Góra, and the labyrinth in the Gold Mine in Złoty Stok. They continue to make new finds.

The Kłodzka region also has hundreds of kilometers of well-marked bike paths. And a challenge awaits mountain climbers on the slopes of Szczeliniec Wielki.

The long tradition in the development of spa and wellness tourism in Kudowa Zdrój, Polanica Zdrój and Duszniki Zdrój has made Lower Silesian health resorts favorites in Poland and across the world.

The Kłodzka region has a well-prepared tourism development strategy and also good land to develop this sector. Hence, it is investing in tourism.

The City of Kudowa-Zdrój
The city of Kudowa-Zdrój is a health resort and a tourist destination located at the foot of the Stołowe Mountains 388 meters above sea level along the E-67 international road. Kudowa-Zdrój is a spa that has been famous for centuries for its therapeutic mineral springs. Patients come here for the treatment of various chronic diseases, including heart diseases, anemia, hyperthyroidism, and alimentary and respiratory tract problems.

The city has many tourist attractions, including the Zabytkowy Park Zdrojowy i Pijalnia (a historic spa park with a mineral water pump room), the Pogórze Sudeckie Regional Folk Culture Museum, the Błędne Skały i Szczeliniec Wielki nature reserves, the Museum of Toys, Muzeum Żaby, Szlak Gin±cych Zawodów (The Trail of Declining Occupations) and Ruchoma Szopka (mobile creche). Another must-see is the 18th-century Kaplica Czaszek (Skull Chapel), one of a few such sites in Europe.

Visitors who prefer active relaxation are encouraged to visit the "Wodny ¦wiat" Aqua Park swimming pool/recreation complex, which offers a wide range of attractions, or make a trip to the local Park Linowy (Kudowa Rope Park) for an exciting adventure that involves rope climbing and walking along rope bridges suspended 15 meters above the ground.

Kudowa-Zdrój Mayor Czesław Kręcichwost:
Every year, we invite visitors to take part in many cultural events in our city, especially the Moniuszko International Festival, the Film Summer in Kłodzko County, the Drogi Czasu (Roads of Time) International Theater Festival, the Polish-Czech Sea Days, and the Polish-Czech Christian Culture Days. Kudowa-Zdrój pays special attention to environmental protection and promotes all kinds of environmental-friendly projects, as attested by the numerous awards and distinctions the city has won. Thanks to the local sub-zone of the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone, Kudowa-Zdrój has become one of the most attractive investment destinations in the province of Lower Silesia.
