About Mapei Polska
May 28, 2008
Article's tools:

Mapei Polska, the Polish subsidiary of the Milan-based Mapei group, was established in 2001. In April 2003 it launched its own factory in a move that confirms the success of Mapei products on the Polish market. Ever since then, the company has been developing continually, reporting a double-digit growth of sales each year. In 2007 the turnover of Mapei Polska was more than 40 percent higher than in 2006. Employment at the company is also growing; at the end of 2007 Mapei Polska employed more than 170 people, up from 48 in 2003.

Four years after the official opening of the Mapei factory in Gliwice, southern Poland, the company doubled its production capacity. Thanks to the opening of a new production line and adding a new packaging machine for adhesives for ceramic tiles (Mapeklej Extra, Kerabond T, Adesilex P9, to name a few of the most well known brands), Mapei increased its production capacity to 250,000 metric tons of adhesives per year. The grout production line was fully automated. The packaging robot, with a lifting capacity of 1,500 kg, is capable of creating perfect pallets out of different sizes of grout packaging, according to customer requirements. The installation of three new packaging machines increased the factory's production capacity for grouts to 20,000 tons per year. The doubling of production capacity has been supported by the development of the warehouse and forwarding infrastructure. A new high-storage warehouse of 6,000 square meters increased the total storage capacity of Mapei Polska by 150 percent over 2003. At the same time, new loading docks were opened to allow the company to load more than 150 trucks per day. In this way, the company can ensure flawless execution of all customers' orders.

Mapei is a recognized producer of high-quality products for the installation of ceramic and natural-stone tiles. Mapei's grouts are the synonym of high quality- proven by the success of the company's UltracolorPlus new-generation grout based on BioBlock Technology (which prevents mold) and DropEffect Technology (which reduces absorption). Mapei adhesives (Mapeklej Extra C1 class, Kerabond T C1T class and Adesilex P9 C2TE class-made according to the EN 12004 norm) have made a name for themselves among a wide group of professionals, who have been loyal to our brand thanks to its high technical value. In 2008, a new adhesive was added to Mapei Polska's range: Keraflex Maxi S1, manufactured with the use of DustFree Technology, which radically (by 90 percent) reduces the amount of dust released during the pouring and mixing processes. At the same time, the high technical parameters of the product (C2TE according to EN12004 and S1 according to EN12002) remained unchanged. This innovation increases the comfort of work for the installer: less dust released means less dust inhaled.

The company's products for wooden floors (such as Ultrabond P990 1K, a unique polyurethane product for bonding the parquet) have won recognition among parquet installers. Also, sales of products for resilient and textile flooring have increased significantly thanks to the attention Mapei pays to the health of installers.

Mapei's R&D laboratories develop Eco products that have low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. In October 2005, the company's Eco line of products, tested by internationally-recognized institutions such as the German TFI and the American CRI, received the Emicode EC1 certification from the German GEV Association for the Control of Emissions in Products for Flooring Installation.

In 2006 Mapei introduced to the market its Mapetherm insulation system. Last year the system was complemented with plasters and paints (Quarzolite Tonachino SP, Quarzolite Graffiato SP, Silexcolor Tonachino SP plus Quarzolite Pittura and Silexcolor Pittura) in a full color range with the ColorMap Mapei automated coloring system.

In September 2007, Mapei Polska introduced its specialized Building Line. Meeting the needs of a fast growing market, Mapei offers a wide range of systems for the construction and renovation of buildings and infrastructures.

Mapei continues to reinforce its position on the Polish market through the introduction of all product lines that make it possible to offer professionals a complete range of specialized system solutions and innovative technologies.

Technologically advanced products are supported by technical training programs: more than 20,000 tile fixers in Poland work with Mapei products and more than half of them actively participate in Mapei training programs and in the Mapei Partnership Program.

A new training center opened in Gliwice in September 2007. This fully equipped training facility for 50 people has been designed for two- to three-day-long sessions and courses, during which specific systems can be dealt with in a detailed way.

To support many professionals who cannot afford to leave their place of work to undergo training for several days, a new customized 12-ton truck has been produced at Mapei's request, which can be turned into a professional training room in just 30 minutes. The training space is protected from rain and wind, has a movable stage, two plasma screens and a full set of products and tools to let professionals see and try new products and solutions as well as watch instructional films.
