Focus on the Future
Prof. Włodzimierz Kurnik, head of the Warsaw University of Technology:
The Warsaw University of Technology has a long and proud tradition, but its activities are oriented toward the future. This is reflected by the school's care for the quality of its study programs and the emphasis placed on the development of scientific research. These two factors determine the school's success.
We not only produce graduates in many professions, but also teach them how to be active and creative in their work. We teach them to understand processes taking place in nature and to analyze various cause-and-effect relationships and phenomena. Add to this the ease of using modern information technology and foreign language fluency, and you will get the picture of a typical graduate of the Warsaw University of Technology-an engineer who copes well on the labor market and knows how to adapt to it flexibly. The university offers its students courses leading to degrees that are valued throughout Europe. The skills and education that our graduates receive from the university enable them to be successful on both the Polish and foreign labor markets.
The Warsaw University of Technology has been active in international research for decades. We cooperated with institutions across Europe long before Poland joined the European Union. The country's EU entry opened new opportunities for our researchers and students-opportunities that we want to use the fullest possible extent. To this end, we have been expanding our range of courses in English and the international exchange of students and teachers. We work with schools in other countries in offering joint programs of study and training. We also join in and initiate major research programs. This opening to the world gives us opportunities for further development.
