Internet Eats Up More Ad Spending

Ten percent of all spending on advertising in Poland goes on internet ads, putting the country in seventh place in Europe in this regard, according to an Interactive Advertising Bureau report. In top-placed Netherlands, the internet accounts for a 18.5 percent slice of the advertising expenditure cake. Next in terms of the size of internet advertising are Norway, Britain, Denmark, Switzerland, Germany and Poland. France, Spain and Italy came behind Poland in the league table. "Consumers, especially younger people, are moving towards the net. And it is at the cost of other media", said Dominik Kaznowski, chairman of IAB Polska.

Last year expenditure on internet advertising in Europe grew by 40 percent and reached 11 billion euros. The IAB report predicts that within the next two years online advertising expenditure in Europe will exceed that in the United States.

The Interactive Advertising Bureau is the biggest internet industry organization in the world. This year's report analyzed 16 countries and Poland was included for the first time.
