Movie Festival in P這ck

Polish and foreign movie celebrities are coming to P這ck in central Poland June 20-22 for the Third International Cinemagic Film Competition. One of the main festival events will a benefit performance marking Polish film director Krzysztof Zanussi's 50 years in the business. It will be combined with an overview of Zanussi's movies. The main musical attraction will be a concert by the legendary band of director Emir Kusturica, The No Smoking Orchestra. Other music acts include the well-known Lao Che group from P這ck and the Irish folk band Dervisch.

Meanwhile, special effects experts and actors who do the Polish dubbing for the Harry Potter movies will take part in the Magic Day: Harry Potter and Others.

And the P這ck theater will stage a show with French and Japanese magicians called Magic Evening.

On Saturday, June 21, festival-goers will be able to see an outdoor screening of this year's Academy Award-winning animated movie Peter and the Wolf with music by Sergei Prokofiev and directed by Suzy Templeton. The movie is a co-production by the Se-ma-for Studio in Poland and Breakthrough Films from Britain. The score will be performed live by the P這ck Symphony Orchestra, which will also play a concert of music by John Williams, the composer of scores for movies such as Jaws, Star Wars, Schindler's List and Jurassic Park.
