A concert dedicated to the southwestern city of Wrocław, which is seeking to raise its profile abroad, will be held at the Polish Radio Concert Studio in Warsaw June 23.

The concert, entitled Wrocław Celebration, will feature works by young Wrocław composers such as Marcin Bortnowski, Cezary Duchnowski and Michał Talm-Sutt. The performers will be the Aukso Orchestra of the southern city of Tychy, under Marek Mo¶, with soloists Łukasz Długosz (flute) and Andrzej Bauer (cello). The musicians will also perform two special compositions, Penultima for Strings and Cello, written by Sławomir Kupczak especially for this year's Wrocław Days; and Like the Sun and the Sea, a work composed by Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil as a gift to Cracow on the 750th anniversary of it being awarded its city charter. Like the Sun and the Sea was first performed on June 30 last year.

The concert in Warsaw will be broadcast live by Polish public Radio 2 and rebroadcast on Deutschlandradio Kultur.
