Wyższa Szkoła Biznesu/National-Louis University is a major Polish business school based in the southern city of Nowy Sącz. The school began operating on Oct. 1, 1991 as Sądecko-Podhalańska Szkoła Biznesu. Eight months later it signed an agreement with National-Louis University, an American school based in and around Chicago, Illinois, and was subsequently renamed.

Initially, Wyższa Szkoła Biznesu/National-Louis University (WSB-NLU) was headquartered at the Stadnicki Palace in Nawojowa near Nowy Sącz. In 1993, the Polish Chamber of Commerce (KIG) bought a six-story building in Nowy Sącz for the school, and more buildings were added in subsequent years.

National-Louis University as the school's co-founder required that students know English, so an extra course was added as a preparatory year for those candidates who had no or poor knowledge of English and therefore did not qualify for a regular three-year course. Extramural courses in Management and Marketing were launched, in addition to special business studies for retiring military officers.

Postgraduate studies in Corporate Management were launched in 1994, and the following year the WSB-NLU signed an agreement with the Maastricht School of Management to jointly develop a Master of Business Administration curriculum. A new specialty was launched at the Management and Marketing department in October 1994-Media Management. The year 1996 saw the start of International Relations and MBA studies.

Two years later the school received the education minister's consent to launch a master's course in Management and Marketing, and the following year it obtained permission to start a new course of BA studies in Information Technology. In October 1999, the WSB-NLU launched an MBA Financial Management course in association with the University of Hull in Britain. A month later, under an agreement with National-Louis University, WSB-NLU graduates began receiving a U.S. Bachelor of Arts degree, in addition to a Polish bachelor's (licencjat).

In 2001, the WSB-NLU joined a group of Microsoft Certified Professional schools. Thanks to an agreement with the Microsoft company, WSB-NLU students can now obtain the MCP certification in one of three specialties: System Engineer, Programmer, or Database Administrator.

In November 2003, the school established a partnership with DePaul University of Chicago under which the WSB-NLU runs two-year courses in information technology that lead to a Master of Science degree in Computer Science.
