4.04 billion euros was Poland's current-account deficit in the first quarter of this year-an increase of 63 percent on the same period last year.

The 10th edition of the Polish Conference Venues & Services Catalogue is out. Regarded as a compendium of knowledge about business tourism in Poland, the 2008 catalogue-entitled Conferences in Poland www.meetingspoland.pl-is the largest publication of its kind in Poland. So far, it has provided its readers with descriptions of more than 550 hotels and convention centers and almost 250 companies that offer services in the organization of business meetings.

This year's edition contains descriptions of venues outside Poland, including sites in Austria, Germany, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. To help readers pick the right location for their conferences, the catalogue features Top Ten lists of venues in 10 different categories, including High-Profile Meetings, Low-Key Get-Togethers, On the Waterfront, and Eating Out. The lists are compiled together with Polish organizations working in the conference sector. For the first time this year, the catalogue includes a league table of airlines handling business trips to and from Poland.

This year's edition has a special feature entitled Visions of Conference Centers in 21st-Century Poland with more than 20 examples of convention and trade fair venues in different parts of the world that have been built over the past few years or are still under construction. These include the Melbourne Convention Center and the futuristic Feature Tower in Abu Dhabi. This section of the catalogue is meant as inspiration for local authorities and designers in Poland.

The 2008 catalogue comes with an extended range of statistical data from foreign sources, charts and interesting facts from the convention sector. All articles in the catalogue are printed in Polish, English, Russian and German. You can also access essential data from the catalogue through a search engine at the www.meetingspoland.pl website.
