Meet a Violin Maestro
July 9, 2008    wersja polska »
Article's tools:

John Holloway, one of the world's best baroque violinists, will perform in Warsaw in late July. The four-time Grammy winner will play at the Royal Castle July 27 and 28.

Holloway has countless awards and titles to his account. He is a long-standing concertmaster with Roger Norrington's London Classical Players and Andrew Parrott's Taverner Players, as well as the founder and director of L'Ecole d'Orphee. With that ensemble, he recorded the first complete recording of Handel's instrumental music on period instruments. He is a professor at five universities. Since 2000 he has also been music director of the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra.

Holloway plays a unique, original Ferdinando Gagliano Baroque violin dating from 1760. During the two recitals in Warsaw, he will play all of Bach's solo violin works.

July 27 and 28, 7 p.m., Royal Castle in Warsaw, Ballroom
