Poles working abroad transferred EUR 1.9 billion to Poland in H1 2011, which is over 9% less than in the same period in the year prior, the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna writes citing data from central bank NBP.

The sum sent in H1 to Poland from England decreased by 22.8% y/y, the respective sum sent from Ireland shrank by nearly 38%, whereas the sum sent from Germany increased by 11.8% y/y to EUR 574 million, which is to a large extent due to the opening of the German labor market for Poles in May, the daily writes citing experts.

Poles have sent PLN 118 billion to their motherland since Poland's EU entry in 2004.
