First McCafe Opens in Poland
July 30, 2008 By A.R.
Article's tools:

McDonald's Polska has opened Poland's first McDonald's with a McCafe coffee shop, in a test run aiming to see if the concept catches on in this country. McCafe is a separate coffee-shop section that stands out from the rest of the restaurant with its decor, fittings and different product range.

For a McCafe to open at an existing McDonald's, the entire restaurant has to be modernized, acquiring modern interior design compatible with the latest design concepts prepared by the McDonald's European design studio. McCafes offer hot beverages and chilled coffee drinks as well as desserts.

Opening test McDonald's restaurants with a McCafe is the latest step in the company's strategy which takes into account the Polish market's potential in this segment.
The McCafe concept is 15 years old, and the first outlet opened in Melbourne, Australia.

Today there are over 1,500 McDonald's restaurants with a McCafe section across the world, 670 in Europe. The European leader is Germany with more than 400 outlets of this type.
