Digital and Mobile Ad Revenue Set to Grow

Digital and mobile advertising revenues around the world are projected to grow to more than $150 billion by 2011, a 12-fold growth from 2002, according to World Digital Media Trends, a report by the World Association of Newspapers (WAN).

The figure includes revenue from advertising and charges for downloading content to mobile telephones, in addition to charges for video-on-demand and music files, advertisements in online computer games as well as for games downloaded to mobile telephones and advertisements in these games.

Broadband internet access is expected to grow from 51.38 million households worldwide in 2002 to nearly 540 million households in 2011, a growth of more than tenfold.

The number of mobile telephone users is expected to continue to grow globally.
