The Born of Fire exhibition at the National Museum in Cracow showcases ceramic works produced over the past six decades by more than 40 artists from Cracow and the Małopolska region. The displayed items include ceramic sculptures, bas-reliefs, mosaics, decorative tiles, and dishes with handmade ornamentation. Exhibits range from abstract and figurative art to items inspired by folk, exotic and religious motifs.

The featured artists represent several generations. The oldest ones started working shortly after World War II, reaching their prime in the latter half of the 1950s and in the 1960s. Contemporary artists constitute the largest group at the exhibition. Most of them are graduates of the Sculpture Department of the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts.

W ogniu tworzone (Born of Fire), National Museum in Cracow, Main Building, 1, 3-go maja Ave., open through Aug. 24.
