Almost 60 percent of those surveyed by Gfk Polonia polling center July 20 gave negative ratings to the government of Donald Tusk. The government, formed by the PO and the Polish People's Party (PSL), has been in office nine months. Two months ago half those polled gave negative ratings to the government.

However, 43 percent of those surveyed said the PO-PSL government was doing better than the previous Cabinet of Jarosław Kaczyński. Only one in four respondents said Tusk's government was doing worse than its predecessors.

Tusk himself enjoys a better rating than his government, with 60 percent of those polled rating him positively and 40 percent rating him negatively.

The Gfk Polonia survey, commissioned by Rzeczpospolita daily, was conducted by telephone on a representative sample of 1,000 adult respondents.
