Mono Bar Goes Latin
August 13, 2008
Article's tools:

The Mono Bar is moving into full-on vacation mode for August. But fear not, gentle reader. You don't have to bop till you drop nonstop. There'll be plenty of time to chill out too.

Let's name the names. Grzech Piotrowski's latest funk project, the Munce Band, are rocking up Aug. 21. This promises to be an energetic mix of cutting-edge improvising over funky grooves. As of Aug. 29, the last Friday of the month will be given over to r'n'b, hip-hop, soul, and funk. DJ600V and Dj Macu will be emceeing along with special guest TEDE.

But Praia Latina (Latin Beach), a series of Latin sounds club parties, is the biggest thing doing down at Mono Bar this month. This is all leading up to Sept. 6 when DJ Grace Kelly gets behind the turntables as part of Warsaw's Bom Dia Brasil (Good Morning Brazil) festival. Warsaw's own honorary Brazilian DJ Ed Szynszyl (Paweł Kucharczuk to his mom) is promoting the event. Szynszyl has worked hard to build up a multicultural feel in this country, over the last 10 years or so club-DJing around Poland and abroad. Szynszyl's specialty is Latin American music, especially Brazilian, so check him out.
