Pianist Marcin Wasilewski's jazz trio will give a concert in Warsaw's Fabryka Trzciny arts center Sept. 14.

The Marcin Wasilewski Trio has been composing and recording music since the beginning of the 1990s, when it was known as the Simple Acoustic Trio.

Wasilewski, double-bass player Sławomir Kurkiewicz, and drummer Michał Miśkiewicz started working with acclaimed Polish jazz musician Tomasz Stańko in 1993. In 1995 they recorded their first album with the music of Polish jazz legend Krzysztof Komeda.

Since then the group has accepted many invitations to participate in Poland's Jazz Jamboree and Warsaw Summer Jazz Days festivals alongside international jazz stars such as Dino Salucci, Palle Danielson and Jon Christensen.

The group received excellent reviews for their Trio album in the world's leading music publications. The American periodical Down Beat hailed Marcin Wasilewski as a rising star. After the release of their latest album January, which consists mainly of music written by Wasilewski, the group decided to change its name to the Marcin Wasilewski Trio. As such it is giving concerts all over Europe and in the United States.

The Marcin Wasilewski Trio's concert is on Sept. 14 in the Fabryka Trzciny arts center in Warsaw at 8 p.m. Seats cost zl.40. Tickets can be purchased from Shortcut Traffic-Club tel. (0-22) 692-14-30, www.shortcut.pl, or from the Fabryka Trzciny ticket office, tel. (0-22) 818-60-39, email: kasa@fabryka.waw.pl
