Article's tools:

Since Poland joined the European Union in 2004, the number of companies with Portuguese capital in Poland has more than trebled. In 2006, Poland was the fourth largest market for Portuguese foreign direct investment worldwide. Portugal ranks 20th among the largest foreign investors in Poland. These strong economic ties have led to the establishment of the Polish-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce (PPCC) this March.

The Portuguese ambassador to Poland, José Sequeira e Serpa, opened the chamber in a ceremony attended by officials including Basilio Horta, president of the Business Development Agency Portugal (AICEP), and Pawe³ Wojciechowski, head of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ).

The Polish-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce aims to support the development of economic and cultural relations between Poland and Portugal. The organization works to provide access to information and know-how for its members. It organizes various events and fosters dialogue between public and private institutions in the two countries.

The Polish-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce was founded by 22 companies, but it remains open to both Polish and Portuguese companies as well as international businesses with offices in Poland and Portugal.

The chairman of the Polish-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce is Pedro Pereira da Silva, who is the CEO of Jeronimo Martins Dystrybucja. The management board members are Vitor Pinto of Bank Millennium; José Cunha of ColepCCL; Arnaldo Guerreiro of Eurocash; Rodrigo Carvalho of Banco Espirito Santao de Investimento; João Rodrigues of AJR Development; and Antonio Castro of Mota-Engil and Martifer.
